MULTI-COUNTY NEW LANDOWNER EDUCATION PROGRAM BEGINS IN AUGUST WITH ‘BEES AND TREES FOR HOMEOWNERS’

The Multi-County New Landowner Education program kicks off a new series of informational meetings next month.

The programs will be held on the third Friday of the months of August through November, beginning on August 20th with “Bees and Trees for Homeowners.”  The meeting will be held at the Washington County Expo Sales Facility from 1:30 to 5 p.m., with registration starting at 1 p.m.

The program will feature discussion with several area beekeepers on what it takes to raise honeybees in this area of Texas, some of the challenges faced, and ideas for solutions.  The program will also cover tree biology, how to recognize common tree problems, and how to manage tree health.

Two Continuing Education Units will be offered for all licensed pesticide applicators.

The series of meetings, seminars and field days is designed to make new landowners in Austin, Colorado, Fayette and Washington counties aware of what types of agricultural enterprises are best for their property.

Cost for the program is $20 per person.  To register, visit https://washington.agrilife.org/nlo.
