WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER QUARANTINE LEAVE POLICY

Washington County Commissioners will meet Tuesday to act upon a quarantine leave policy for certain county employees.

The policy, if approved, would provide paid quarantine leave for peace officers, detention officers and emergency medical technicians if they are ordered by a supervisor or the health authority to quarantine or isolate due to possible or known exposure to a communicable disease while on duty.

Eligible employees who are on qualifying paid quarantine leave would receive all employment benefits and compensation, including accruing leave, retirement and health benefits for the duration of the leave.  If applicable, the employees would be reimbursed for reasonable costs related to the quarantine, including lodging, medical and transportation.

Off duty exposures would not be covered under this policy.

Also on Tuesday, commissioners will hold a public meeting for the Pecan Glen Road District to approve an order authorizing the issuance of road bonds, levying an ad valorem tax in support of the bonds, and other matters related to the bonds.

In May, residents of the road district passed a proposal to issue up to $950,000 in bonds to improve road conditions in the Pecan Glen subdivision.  The bond is being taken out by the road district, not by Washington County; as such, any increase in property taxes will only apply to residents of the Pecan Glen subdivision.

Commissioners will also:

  • Hear a presentation from Washington County Historical Commission Chair Tom Stevens recapping the historical commission’s youth history camp at Washington-on-the-Brazos.
  • Consider a generator at the EMS helicopter hangar.
  • Consider a subdivision variance request for a land division fronting Lehmann Lane in Precinct 2.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
