UNITY THEATRE TO PRESENT ‘THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY’

A drama will take the stage at Unity Theatre in Brenham for its second production of the 2021-22 season.

“The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey”, a Studio Series production by James Lecesne, will play on the Main Stage October 21-31.  The drama contains strong language and mature subject matter.

The one-man act, performed by Greg Dean, will portray every character in a small Jersey Shore town as he tells the story of Leonard Pelkey, a flamboyant 14-year-old boy who has gone missing.  Leonard is a force of nature whose impact is only truly felt once he is gone and he becomes an unexpected inspiration to the town’s citizens.  The play is about acceptance, the difference one person can make, and that being different is something to be celebrated.

Performances will open with a preview night on October 21st, featuring a talk-back with the cast, director and crew after the performance.  A director’s chat with Unity Theatre Executive Artistic Director Kate Revnell-Smith will be held on October 30th before the show.

At present, Unity Theatre plans to not limit seats or require masks for the performance.  Those who are not vaccinated are requested, but not required, to wear masks while in the building.  Unity Theatre follows the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and reserves the right to make changes based on current COVID-19 information.

Tickets are $25 and go on sale to the public on October 11th. Tickets to the preview performance on October 21st are $17; student tickets are $15; and any unsold seats 15 minutes prior to the show are $15.
