RIBBON CUTTING HELD FOR NEW HELICOPTER HANGER

An official ribbon cutting was held Tuesday afternoon for the new hangar located at the Washington Volunteer Fire Department on Highway 105.  The hanger will be used to house the Washington County EMS helicopter.  The hanger was built by the Washington Volunteer Fire Department and then purchased by the county in a lease to own agreement.  County Commissioner Don Koester says that the hanger would have cost 3 times as much had the county built it.

The new hanger will be named the Jensen / Miller EMS Hanger after Captain Robert Jensen, whose family donated the property where it was built and Chief Clyde Miller, Fire Chief of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department.  The new hanger not only has room for the EMS Helicopter, but also living quarters for the four person crew who mans it.

Washington County EMS Director Kevin Deramus shows the living quarters in the new hanger.
