SEXUAL ASSAULT RESOURCE CENTER TO HOST FUNDRAISING GALA FRIDAY

The Sexual Assault Resource Center (SARC) is seeking to raise critical funding at its annual gala on Friday.

The gala, themed “An Evening Under the Stars”, will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Brownstone Reserve in Bryan.  Guests will be treated to food, drinks, dancing, auctions and drawings.

The non-profit agency recently lost over $260,000 due to cuts in federal and state funding, around 35 percent of its annual budget.  The agency’s biggest operating expense is the salaries of five counselors who assist hundreds of sexual assault survivors with thousands of counseling sessions annually.

Donations from the event will support survivors of sexual assault through the funding of SARC’s 24/7 hotline, care packages, accompaniments to the hospital, prevention education, case management services and referrals.

KWHI and KTEX-106 are proud sponsors of the event.
