TUESDAY SEES LOW TURNOUT FOR EARLY VOTING; EXTENDED HOURS WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY
Tuesday was a low mark for early voting in Washington County.
According to Elections Administrator Carol Jackson, 645 people came to vote Tuesday in the midterms at the Washington County Courthouse Annex. That includes 556 voters in the Brenham ISD bond election.
Jackson says the weather may have played a small factor in the drop in voters, but it is fairly normal to see reduced turnout during the second week of early voting.
Thus far, 7,007 early voters have participated in total, 6,287 in the bond election.
Extended hours at the courthouse annex are available today (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday), as voting will run from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Early voting wraps up on Friday with hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Election Day is next Tuesday, November 8th.
