DONNA PUTNAM SEEKING ELECTION TO BURTON SCHOOL BOARD
Burton ISD voters will look to fill three spots on the Burton School Board with this spring’s election.
Among the four candidates on the ballot is Donna Putnam. A career educator working for Brenham, Burton and Conroe school districts, Putnam has been a member of the school board since November 2020.
Putnam says her top priorities are school safety, providing a superior education, support for teachers and respecting taxpayers. She says her 37 years of education experience in a variety of capacities allows her to understand the issues most important to teachers.
Putnam wants to make teacher pay more competitive with neighboring school districts and provide extra personal days for them. Additionally, she feels that Burton ISD needs to focus on its in-district students and, if necessary, consider halting transfers in order to keep class sizes smaller.
Putnam believes Burton ISD has been very successful in its efforts to improve school security.
Early voting continues until Tuesday. Election Day is Saturday, May 6th.
