DR. TYLOR CHAPLIN TO RETIRE AS BRENHAM ISD SUPT. IN DECEMBER

  

Brenham ISD Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin has announced his retirement from the school district, effective at the end of this December.

A press release from Brenham ISD this (Tuesday) afternoon stated that Dr. Chaplin informed trustees of his decision at their meeting Monday night. 

Dr. Chaplin was hired as school district superintendent in August 2020 after serving as the superintendent for Burkburnett ISD since 2016. 

A reason for Dr. Chaplin’s decision to retire was not provided in the release.  Dr. Chaplin was not available this afternoon for a phone interview with KWHI. 

In the release, Dr. Chaplin said he has had the opportunity during his career to work alongside “amazing individuals who tirelessly change the lives of students every day,” and Brenham ISD “is no exception.”  He said, “With the collective efforts of our educators and administrators, I have no doubt that the students of Brenham ISD will continue to excel.” 

Dr. Chaplin also said he will continue to support and advocate for what is best for the students and their education, and is “confident that the foundation we have built together will continue to thrive and propel our students towards a bright and successful future.”

School Board President Natalie Lange said Dr. Chaplin “was always guided by his commitment to put students first” and “has made changes that the district will benefit from for years to come.”  She said the board “appreciates his commitment to our district and community.”

The board of trustees and the administration will work with Dr. Chaplin as the transition process begins.  The board will discuss the superintendent search during upcoming meetings to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.

Brenham, July 18, 2023 — Dr. Tylor Chaplin, Superintendent of the Brenham Independent School District (Brenham ISD), has announced his retirement, effective the end of December 2023. Dr. Chaplin shared this news with the Brenham ISD Board of Trustees during their recent meeting on July 17th.

Reflecting on his decision, Dr. Chaplin expressed his gratitude for the dedicated educators he has had the privilege of working with throughout his 29-year career in education. He stated, "In my time as an educator, I have had the opportunity to work alongside some amazing individuals who tirelessly change the lives of students every day. Brenham is no exception. With the collective efforts of our educators and administrators, I have no doubt that the students of Brenham ISD will continue to excel."

Dr. Chaplin assured the staff and community that his commitment to the work and dedication to the students would remain unwavering even after his retirement. He stated, "Please know that I will continue to support and advocate for what is best for our students and their education. I am confident that the foundation we have built together will continue to thrive and propel our students towards a bright and successful future."

As the transition process begins, the Brenham ISD Board of Trustees, along with the administration, will work closely with Dr. Chaplin. The board will discuss the superintendent search process during upcoming meetings to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.

She stated, "Dr. Chaplin stepped in to lead Brenham ISD during the middle of 2020. Faced with the unprecedented challenges brought by the pandemic, he was always guided by his commitment to put students first. During his time here, Dr. Chaplin has made changes that the district will benefit from for years to come. He has been unwavering in leading the district to make decisions based on what is best for all students, and the Board of Trustees appreciates his commitment to our district and community."
