WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO PURCHASE HOLSTERS FOR SHERIFF’S OFFICE HANDGUNS

Washington County Commissioners will act on purchasing holsters for newly ordered handguns for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at their meeting on Tuesday.

The new handguns were ordered by the sheriff’s office last month, using donation funds.  For the holsters, the sheriff’s office is requesting to use Texas Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (LEOSE) - Texas Comptroller Education Funds and Texas Asset Forfeiture Funds to make the purchase.

Commissioners will also look to renew a user license agreement for an online vital records request application with Permitium LLC for the county clerk’s office.  The cloud-based software offers online options to process, issue and make payment for birth, death and marriage certificates.

There will also be action on a market plan and feasibility study concerning the Washington County Expo, using American Rescue Plan Act funds.

In other business, the court will consider:

  • A proclamation declaring October 1-7 as National 4-H Week in Washington County.
  • The Washington County Extension Service’s quarterly impact report.
  • Monthly reports from the sheriff’s office, county and district clerks, justices of the peace, auditor, tax assessor-collector, treasurer, constables, elections administrator and veterans service officer.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.
