WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS COURTHOUSE LANDSCAPING PROJECT

The Washington County Courthouse landscaping project will be among Tuesday’s topics of discussion for county commissioners.

The court will take up back-to-back items concerning potentially ending negotiations with Studio 16:19 and entering negotiations with Terralab Landscape Architects for landscape architecture services at the courthouse.

The project is intended to address exterior courthouse aesthetic and drainage issues.

In other business, commissioners will hear the E-911 department’s latest quarterly report.  They will later act on changing the time of the commissioners court meeting on February 13th from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and designating the Expo Event Center for district court day on February 15th.

Also on Tuesday, commissioners will:

  • Recognize 10 years of service for 911 Operations Manager Shannon Selden.
  • Consider a request for application for county depository and subdepository.
  • Consider an addendum to a contract for additional software licenses, support services and maintenance.
  • Act on bond renewals for reserve deputy sheriffs Damon Wegner, Justin Knuppel, Ruben Fuentes and William Scott Atwood.

Commissioners will meet Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse.

  1. What happened to buy local we have a number of Great landscaping companies within the county

    1. Right? Isn’t it funny how the Commissioner’s Court, City Council, and The Chamber all push the “buy local, support small business” model until it comes to them? And then they send out their money to a big city firm. Typical politicians: what’s good for thee is not good for we.

      1. For the record, while TerraLab is not based in Brenham, one of the principal owners lives here and owns a downtown business. Stop overreacting because the company tackles larger projects in Houston. At least one of the owners has chose to make this place their home.

      2. As an owner of a local landscape company and registered landscape architect we did apply for the new courthouse landscape design. We filled out all the necessary forms with the State of Texas and prepared a package like every other company who applied. We were informed we were not chosen. As a local business we try to support as many local companies as we can. I have asked the same question as why not hire a local company but have not been given an answer. I am not sure if the local commissioners are the ones who made the decision or the state of Texas. We have been told local companies will get to submit bids to do the actual work.
