DPS INVESTIGATING FATAL CRASH NEAR BRENHAM

  

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers are investigating a two vehicle fatality crash that occurred on Sunday just outside of Brenham.

The crash happened on Highway 290 at William B. Travis Lane at 3:10pm.

According to a preliminary investigation, a 2024 Chevy Corvette was traveling eastbound. A 2016 Kia Forte attempted to turn from William B. Travis Lane onto Highway 290 when the Corvette struck it.

The driver of the Kia Forte, 70-year-old Kay Elderidge of LaFayette, Indiana was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Bryan with suspected serious injuries.

According to DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz, she succumbed to those injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital staff on Monday.

The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to Baylor Scott & White in Brenham, and also believed to have suspected serious injuries. 

Sgt. Ruiz said that the investigation into the case is ongoing, and that no other information can be released at this time.
