BRENHAM AND UNIVERSITY TO MEET FOR THE DISTRICT TITLE AT CUB STADIUM

The Brenham Cub Football Team has big matchup ahead of them tonight (Friday).  The Cubs will face the Waco University Trojans at 7pm at Cub Stadium.

Brenham comes in with 7-1 overall record, and they are 3-0 in district.  University is 6-2 overall, and 2-1 in district. If the Cubs win, they will clinch the District Championship. Tommy Lange and I will have the call of the action right here on KWHI beginning with the pregame at 6:30pm.

The Cubs are led by RB Jakoby Dixon, who on the season has 180 carries for 1,785 yards, and 24 rushing touchdowns. He needs 215 yards to surpass 2,000 for the season.

QB Jordan Harvey has completed 63 of 102 passes (62%) for 1,074 yards. He has 13 touchdown passes to just 4 interceptions with a QB Rating of 120.7.

WR Chris Guidry has 16 catches for 372 yards and six touchdowns. WR Cartelle Brown has 16 catches for 323 yards and five touchdowns. Dixon also has 16 catches for 205 yards and two touchdowns.

On the Brenham defense, LB Caleb Espinoza leads the team with 99 tackles (77 solo, 22 assists), while Kristian Prosper has 63 (52 solo, 11 assists), and Doyle Brown has 43 (35 solo, 8 assists).

Meanwhile, for the Trojans, QB Savoy Nichols has completed 115 of 190 passes (61%) for 1,680 yards. He's got 12 touchdowns to nine interceptions and a QB Rating of 90.7.

Their rushing game is led by RB La Darrius Evans, who has 133 carries for 777 yards and eight touchdowns. He is joined by Ja'Deriun Bell, who has 69 carries for 566 yards and five touchdowns.

Ke'Andre Brooks is the leading receiver for the Trojans with 34 catches for 663 yards and seven touchdowns. His teammate London Smith has 31 catches for 447 yards and three touchdowns.

Elsewhere around the district, Killeen Ellison beat Bryan Rudder in a shootout last (Thursday) night 54-41. Still to come tonight (Friday), Belton is at Waco High School.

Single Season Rushing Yards (1,785): He is currently in 7th place. Dixon needs 136 to catch Donyell Jones for 6th, 173 to catch Mathus Gill for 5th, and 231 to catch Roosevelt Leaks for 4th.

Career Rushing Yards (2,966): He is currently in 6th place. Dixon needs 151 to catch Matt Murski for 5th, 174 yards to catch Mathus Gill for 4th, and 259 yards to catch Donyell Jones for 3rd.

Single Season Touchdowns (27): He is currently in 5th place. Dixon needs just one to catch Earnest Patterson's 2013 season for 4th, two to catch Matt Murski for 3rd, five to catch Roosevelt Leaks for 2nd, and eight to catch Earnest Patterson's 2014 season for first.

Career Touchdowns (46): He is currently in 4th place. Dixon needs nine to catch Roosevelt Leaks and Matt Murski, who are tied for 2nd.

Career Points (288): He is currently in 5th place. Dixon needs 42 to catch Matt Murski for 4th.
