NOVEMBER SALES TAX REBATES DOWN FOR WASHINGTON CO. & BRENHAM, UP FOR BURTON
Washington County and the City of Brenham reported a drop in sales and tax distributions for the month of November, while the City of Burton reported growth.
Washington County’s rebate this month came out to $390,719, down 6.33 percent from its November 2023 payment of $417,143. So far this year, the county has received $4,231,769, 3.02 percent below last year’s payment-to-date of $4,363,864.
Brenham took in $829,119 in November, a 6.69 percent reduction from the $888,657 received last November. Through 2024, the city has collected $9,164,112, up 3.42 percent from the $8,860,914 collected through this time last year.
Burton’s November rebate was $14,379, an increase of 9.42 percent from last November, when the city brought in $13,140. The city’s receipts through November total $146,676, up 41.11 percent from the $103,942 received through this time a year ago.
Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported $1.2 billion in state payouts for local sales tax allocations this month, up 1.1 percent from last November and up 1.8 percent for the year so far.
