TxDOT BEGINNING SURVEY WORK WEDNESDAY NIGHT ALONG SOUTH AUSTIN STREET

Drivers on South Austin Street in downtown Brenham will need to be mindful of detours for the next few days, as TxDOT will be conducting survey work of storm drains for future improvements.

The work on South Austin Street will take place between West Main Street and West Alamo Street.

Work will start tonight (Wednesday) at 8 p.m. and is expected to continue until 5 a.m. tomorrow (Thursday).  Daytime work is scheduled for Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

City of Brenham Public Works Director Dane Rau said the work is for TxDOT to collect accurate information to use for future projects in the area.  TxDOT – Brenham Area Engineer James Kreamer confirmed they will be mapping the storm drain system.

Rau said there should not be any excavation work happening, and that the detours are just to protect the workers and equipment that will be set up in the lanes and middle of the roadway.
