EDDY’S NO-HITTER HELPS LEAD BLINN TO A SWEEP OVER COASTAL BEND

It was an afternoon to remember for Blinn Buccaneer Pitcher Brok Eddy, who threw a no-hitter in the first game of their doubleheader sweep over Coastal Bend today (Saturday).

The sophomore from Brighton, Colorado went all seven innings allowing no-runs, no-hits, only two walks, and striking out six as the Bucs won the first game 8-0. The win improved his record to 5-1 on the season.

The Bucs got the scoring started with three runs in the bottom of the first inning off of an RBI double by Bennett Fryman and a two-run single by Drew Britton.

Blinn added a fourth run in the bottom of the second on an RBI double by Lane Allen.

The Bucs added four runs in the fourth inning. Drew Britton had an RBI single. The Bucs scored a pair of runs off of two balk calls against Coastal Bend in the inning. Ryder McDaniel brought the last run home on a sacrifice fly.

In the second game, Blinn played home run derby on their way to an 11-1 run-rule victory and a sweep of the Cougars. The Bucs jumped on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run double by Fryman and a two-run single by Britton to give them a 4-0 lead.

Coastal Bend finally got their first run of the three game series in the top of the third inning to cut the Blinn lead to 4-1. However, in the bottom of the inning, the Bucs would respond with a solo homer by Fryman, and a two-run homer by Brody Sullivan to extend the margin to 7-1.

Blinn added to their lead in the bottom of the fourth as well. Fryman continued his big day with a three-run homer to give the Bucs a 10-1 lead.

Fryman had a big game with three hits and six RBIs.

McDaniel finished it off for Blinn in the bottom of the fifth with a walkoff solo homer to give the Bucs an 11-1 victory.

Hayden Morris went the distance and got the win. Over five innings, he allowed one run, just two hits, two walks, and struckout seven.

Next up, the Buccaneers will host San Jacinto on Tuesday at 6pm at Leroy Dreyer Field.
