BRENHAM FIRE DEPT. CALLED OUT MONDAY FOR ARCING POWER LINE, EARLY TUESDAY FOR GAS CAN FIRE

The Brenham Fire Department went out to two calls on Monday and one early this (Tuesday) morning.

Approaching 6:45 a.m. Monday, units were dispatched to a power line arcing in the 1200 block of Lauraine Street.  They made location to find a power pole arcing at the top.  The fire department stood by until the City of Brenham Electric Department arrived and released them from the scene.

A few minutes after 8:15 p.m., firefighters received a report of a carbon monoxide alarm at a home in the 2000 block of Winepress Road.  They arrived to find bad batteries in the detector and verified that everything else was okay before returning to service.

Around 1 a.m. today, BFD personnel responded to a possible structure fire at a home in the 200 block of Mary Gene Street.  Upon arrival, they found a small gas can that was on fire behind the house, but had been put out by the owner before units made location.  After making sure with the owner that all was well, the department cleared the call.
