TWO ACCIDENTS AMONG FIVE CALLS FOR BRENHAM FD BETWEEN WEDNESDAY, EARLY THURSDAY
The Brenham Fire Department responded to five calls between Wednesday and early this (Thursday) morning.
Shortly before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, units were called out for a fire alarm sounding at a home in the 700 block of Legrand Street. Upon finding nothing showing from the exterior of the building, they discovered that water was inside a smoke detector, causing it to go off.
At 9:30 a.m., the department was dispatched to Highway 36 North and Vintage Farms Way for a transportation incident. Upon arrival, firefighters found a two-vehicle accident with minor damage and checked for injuries and fluids leaking, of which there were neither.
Just before 5 p.m., a fire alarm was reported at the Brenham State Supported Living Center, 4001 Highway 36 South. Nothing was showing from the exterior of the building, and firefighters reset the alarm before returning to the station.
Approaching 9:30 p.m., another transportation incident was called in from the 1800 block of Highway 290 West. There, units discovered a two-vehicle accident with no injuries or fluids leaking. They returned to service after the vehicles were removed from the roadway.
At 1:15 a.m. today, BFD members went out to Focused Care at Brenham, 1303 Highway 290 East, for a report of a gas smell inside. Upon arrival, they found four pilot lights were not burning, causing the gas smell. The department ventilated the building, clearing the call once the gas monitor showed no readings.
