Story by Joe Alberico, Blinn College Sports Information
The Blinn College women’s basketball team dropped its final game of the Western Texas College Classic on Saturday, falling 76-60 to Howard College in Snyder, Texas.
The Buccaneers are now 3-4 overall.
Blinn got off to a fast start and built a 23-13 lead in the first quarter, but the Hawks took control across the second and third periods.
The Bucs took a 34-31 advantage into halftime before Howard rallied for a 57-48 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
“We played well in the first quarter,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “Over the course of the last 30 minutes, we missed shots, free throws, and turned the ball over. We have to get better at all aspects of the game.”
Sophomore guard Taylor Spencer and freshman forward Amyah Weathersby led the Bucs with 15 and 10 points, respectively. Freshman forward Kamaria “Juice” Ford had seven points, and sophomore guard Mariah Houston and freshman forward Sami’ya Mahr each tallied six. Freshman guard Mia Colston pulled down seven rebounds and sophomore forward Cynthia LeCompte had five points, five rebounds, and six assists.
Blinn's season continues with a road trip to Dallas College Cedar Valley at 5:30 p.m. today (Monday).
