CUB BASKETBALL GOES UNBEATEN AT THE MIKE SMITH CLASSIC
The Brenham Cub Basketball Team swept through the competition with a perfect 4-0 record at the Mike Smith Classic after earning two more wins yesterday (Tuesday).
The Cubs and Kerrville Tivy both were undefeated in the tournament, but Tivy was credited as first place due to point differential.
Brenham opened the tournament on Monday with a 61-53 win over Victoria West. Jayden Hebert led the way with 20 points, nine rebounds, and four rebounds. Quincy Adams added 11 points and eight rebounds.
They followed that up with a 64-45 victory over Goliad. Hebert finished with 16 points and seven rebounds. Dawud Majied had 14 points. Roderick Martin chipped in with 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Tuesday, on day two of the tournament, the Cubs doubled up St. Pius X 60-30. Herbert was the leading scorer once again with 20 points. Adams had nine points, and Martin added seven points.
They would then wrap up the Classic with a 73-64 victory over Edinburg. Herbert had his biggest game of the tournament with 22 points. Adams and Martin finished with 15 points each.
Hebert, who averaged 19.5 points per game over the four games, named as the Tournament MVP, while Quincy Adams made the All-Tournament Team.
Next up for the Cubs, they will return home this Friday night for their district opener against Montgomery.
