PANTHER BASKETBALL PICKS UP FIRST DISTRICT WIN OVER BREMOND

The Burton Panther Basketball Team won a seesaw game over the Bremond Tigers 40-37 last (Friday) night to win their first District 26-2A Game of the season.

Burton, who was the visiting team, controlled the first quarter and took a 13-4 lead.

Bremond bounced back with a big second quarter, where they outscored the Panthers 16-12. However, Burton still led 25-20 going into the locker room at half time.

The Panthers won the third quarter 11-3 to expand their advantage to 36-23.

In the fourth quarter, the Tigers managed to close the gap by outscoring Burton 14-4, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit.

Kayden Patterson led the Panthers with 17 points, while Yobani Brewer added 13 points.

With the win, Burton is now 9-6 on the season, and 1-2 in district.

Next up, the Panthers will head to Mumford on Tuesday night for another District game beginning at 7:30pm.
