BURTON CHEERLEADERS FINISH FOURTH AT STATE SPIRIT COMPETITION
The Burton High School Cheerleaders took home fourth place at this year's UIL State Spirit Competition in Fort Worth.
The event began on Thursday with Burton finishing sixth in the qualifying round. The competition was made up of Band Chant, Fight Song, and Crowd Leading.
Burton scored 36.85 points in Band Chant, 61.45 points in Fight Song, and 74.6 in Crowd Leading.
On Friday, Burton scored 42.53 for Crowd Leading and 42.10 points for Band Chant and Fight Song combined. That gave them a final score of 84.63, which was good for 4th overall.
Falls City was first, Haskell was second, and Lindsay was third.
This was the first year that the competition was broken up into Division I and Division II schools. Previously, all of the Class 2A schools competed against one another.
