BRENHAM HERITAGE MUSEUM SEEKS DIGITIZED HOME MOVIES FOR TIMELINE EXHIBIT
The Brenham Heritage Museum is seeking help in preserving local history through the contribution of digitized home movies.
As part of an expanded timeline exhibit nearing completion on the museum’s main floor, the museum is looking for home movies that capture life in Brenham and Washington County from the 1940s through the 1970s. The museum requests movies that have already been converted from 8mm films into digital files.
Mike Vance, who is overseeing the historical content for the exhibit, says the last segment of the timeline will include many looks at media and culture, and the museum hopes to feature some of these home movies highlighting local life through those decades.
The museum says it is particularly interested in footage that showcases local landmarks, community events, businesses, schools, churches, family gatherings, and other slices of daily life. Informal or candid moments are still welcome, as the museum says they can offer valuable insight into the county’s shared history.
Digital files can be transferred to the museum by delivering files on a USB drive to the museum office at 310 East Main Street in Brenham.
