BURTON’S FRITSCH AND WILLIAMS MAKE BLUE BELL/TWSA 2A ALL STATE TEAM
Two members of the Burton Lady Panther Softball Team, who are coming off incredible years, have received more post season honors.
Graduating seniors Paige Fritsch and Amaya Williams were named to the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 2A All-State Softball Team.
Players received nominations from coaches and sports writers around the state, and then they are voted on by TSWA members.
Fritsch, who played second base for Burton was selected 1st Team All-State. She finished the season with a .471 batting average, a .573 on-base percentage, 11 doubles, nine home runs, 48 RBIs, 36 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases.
Williams, who played center field for the Lady Panthers, was selected 2nd Team All-State. She finished the season with a .744 batting average, a .798 on-base percentage, 21 doubles, four triples, 22 homers, 80 RBIs, 60 runs scored, and 13 stolen bases.
This past season, they helped to lead Burton to a 21-13 overall record. They went undefeated in District to claim the championship. Then, in the playoffs, the Lady Panthers made it to the Regional Championship before losing to eventual State Champion Shiner.
