WASHINGTON COUNTY AND TEXAS VOTERS APPROVE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS
Washington County and Texas voters approved all seven constitutional amendments to the Texas Constitution on Tuesday.
Texans voted to support increasing the homestead property tax exemption from $15,000 to $25,000, which on average should save families about $125 a year.
Also approved were the hunting and fishing rights, along with voters approving at least an extra $2.5 billion in public funding for Texas’ clogged roads and highways.
Exemption from property taxes for spouses of totally disabled veterans was also approved by voters.
A total of 3,455 persons voted during this election, which is 15.4 percent out of 21,949 registered voters. 1,408 persons voted on Election Day Tuesday, according to County Clerk Beth Rothermel.
