BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL APPROVES BID FOR CONCRETE WORK
The Brenham City Council approved a bid for concrete work for the Old Mill Creek Lot Development during their meeting this morning (Thursday). Of the two bids received, Collier Construction submitted the lowest bid for $46,044. The work bid consist of concrete curb and gutter, concrete flat work and installation of concrete drainage boxes.
Also at the meeting, two variance requests were approved. One from Annie Mae Sharp for the Graves Family Reunion on April 16th from 10:30am to 11:00pm. The second from the Brenham Maifest Association for the 2016 Maifest Events being held on April 30th, May 5th, May 6th, and May 7th.
An addendum to the online auction memo of understanding between the City and GovDeals Inc. was approved so that a 7.5% administration fee charged to the City will now be charged to the buyer.
Also approved at the meeting were: a quote from SHI Government Solutions for the renewal of the Microsoft Enterprise agreement between the City and Microsoft Corporation was approved at a total cost of $74,392.70 per year for three years, the first reading amending the water conservation plan for the city, as well as three revisions in the Investment Policy for the City. Section 6 was revised to remove more sophisticated investments that do not match the City’s practices, Section 7 to remove the diversification percentages to allow the City flexibility to allocate funds between the authorized investments, and Section 8 for the recent amendment to the City Charter whereby the selection of a depository bank was changed from every two years to every 5 years.
The City Council will reconvene for a public hearing discussing an amendment to change a section of land from single family residential use to a commercial/retail use in order to build an apartment complex and retail space. This land is being bound by Rucker Street, North Park Street, West Blue Bell Road, and Ewing Street. Council will also discuss an ordinance to change the zoning district from a single family residential use to a local business/residential mixed use for land located at the Southeast Intersection of Ewing and Rucker Streets.
Council will reconvene at the Courthouse at 1:00pm.
