WORLD CLASS PIANIST IN CONCERT AT UNITY THEATRE
Renowned pianist Rick Rowley, with special guest Soprano Mela Dailey, make a special appearance at Unity Theatre for a one-night concert event on June 24th at 7:30pm. This will be an evening of music running the gamut from popular virtuoso piano music, to songs from Broadway, popular, operatic, and maybe even a little country music!
Rick is well known to Unity audiences from many years of acting, musical directing, and directing at the theatre. He was in the first production presented by the theatre, Talley’s Folly, and most recently he was the pianist and musical director of Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings. Rick is a tremendously respected classical pianist and has been on the faculty of the University of Texas at Austin for the last eleven years. At UT he works with singers and pianists, teaches a variety of classes and performs extensively.
Soprano Mela Dailey brings a wealth of experience and has garnered awards from the National Federation of Music Clubs, Metropolian Opera, and New York University. Mela’s talents include many genres: opera, oratorio, art song, musical theater, vocal jazz, gospel, country, and popular music. Her professional debut took place in 2003 at Carnegie Hall with the Grammy nominated Conspirare Company of Voices directed by Craig Hella Johnson, a group with whom she also recorded for the Harmonia Mundi label (www.meladailey.com).
The concert will take place 7:30pm on Friday, June 24th. Tickets are $25 and reservations are recommended.
