NINE SENTENCED IN LATEST 21ST DISTRICT COURT

  

A Navasota man has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for murder in the latest session of the 21st Judicial District Court.qtq80-Wn9BKP

Devon Frederick-Cross, 19, led authorities on a high speed chase in 2015 that resulted in the death of a Waco woman.

Frederick-Cross was driving a stolen Lincoln Town Car when the chase ensued on Bluebell Road and Highway 105. Frederick-Cross reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour before he stuck another vehicle while trying to avoid a spike strip placed by authorities.

During the collision, 29-year-old Ameilia Mejia was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Justin Garcia, 18, of Bryan was also ejected from the front passenger seat and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Frederick-Cross was sentenced to 20 years in prison for Evading Arrest/Detention Cause Death of Another, which is a second degree felony. He was also convicted of three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, each holding a five year sentence which will be served concurrently. Frederick-cross was also convicted of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and sentenced to two years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice- State Jail Division.

In other news from the 21st District Court, 19-year-old Tyrone Ray Scyrus Jr. of Brenham was sentenced to two years in jail for a Burglary of Habitation and Deadly Conduct Discharge of a Firearm- a third degree felony.

Peter Darrigo, 35, of Brenham was sentenced to 7 years in prison, probated 5 years for Assault on a Family/House Member- Impeding Breath/Circulation, which is a third degree felony.

30-year-old Juan Morrell Telsede of Brenham was sentenced to seven years in prison after his probation was revoked for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 4-200 G- a second degree felony.

46-year-old Toby Eugene Rogers of Brenham was sentenced to 5 years in prison for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 1-4G- a third degree felony.

Tristian Palacios-Prieve, 19, of Brenham was sentenced to five years deferred adjudication probation for a burglary of a building.

37-year-old Christopher Anthony Martinez of Brenham was sentenced to five years deferred adjudication probation for Burglary of Habitation, which is a second degree felony.

Marcus Sherwood Gay, 31, of Giddings was sentenced to five years in jail for Evading Arrest/Detention Using a Vehicle, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Mark Rigler, 33, from New Ulm was sentenced to three years deferred adjudication probation for Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 less than 1G.
