VIDEO ON YOUTUBE OF BRENHAM POLICE CHASE THAT RESULTED IN FIRING

  

A video has been posted on YouTube that shows the high-speed chase that resulted in a Brenham Police Officer resigning after allegations of excessive force.

Corporal Richard Bobbitt was the subject of an internal investigation which showed that he used excessive force during an arrest on July 14th. On August 1st, he was subsequently fired from the Brenham Police Department. In September however, he was given the opportunity to resign instead of being officially terminated from his position.

The YouTube video, which appears to be taken by a dash cam of a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper, shows the high speed chase, but not the arrest itself. According to the Brenham Banner Press, Washington County District Attorney Julie Renken says she plans on asking DPS who authorized the release of the video.

KBTX of Bryan/College Station previously made an open records request for documents including the dashboard camera video, but has yet to receive information on what would be released.

The Harris County District Attorney’s office still has the excessive force case under investigation.
