SOMERVILLE AWARDED TWO HISTORICAL MARKERS
The Texas Historical Commission recognized the Somerville Stadium and Yegua Center as significant parts of Texas history by awarding each an Official Texas Historical Marker on Saturday.
A dedication ceremony to commemorate the event was held at the Yegua Center in Somerville.
Melynda Giesenschlag, a Burleson County Chairperson said that the two structures are good examples of rustic architecture built in the 1930’s by the Works Progress Administration. She went on to say that the markers will not only bring awareness to the area’s history, buy will be good for local tourism.
