WALLER CO. SHERIFF ASKED TO RESIGN
Waller County Sheriff Glenn Smith has been asked to resign after a string of scandals under his leadership, including the death of Sandra Bland and a recent allegation of sexual assault at the county jail.
Waller County Judge Trey Duhon and District Attorney Elton Mathis cited ongoing problems at the jail as a reason for the resignation request.
Judge Duhon declined to disclose the specifics of why the Waller County commissioners court decided to request the resignation, but said the decision resulted from an executive session during a commission meeting on March 22nd.
Sheriff Smith reportedly told ABC13 he has no intention of resigning from his position.
