LOBOS FINDS $1.6 MILLION WORTH OF COCAINE
Fayette County K-9 Lobos and his handler seized about 15 kilos of cocaine during a traffic stop on Friday.
The drug seizure led to the arrest of the driver, Jose Mendez, who was traveling with his wife and three children.
According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Randy Thumann stopped a Ford F-150 on Interstate 10 at the 660 mile-marker just after 1 p.m.
After speaking with Mendez about his travel itinerary and observing his raised level of nervousness when speaking about illegal drugs, Sgt. Thumann believed Mendez was transporting illegal narcotics from Mexico to Houston.
Consent was given to search the truck and the cocaine was found in a toolbox that was stored in a floor compartment.
The drugs are estimated to be worth approximately $1.6 million.
Mendez was arrested for felony possession of cocaine and transported to the Dan. R. Beck Justice Center.
Did y’all know Lobos is trained to only understand German and Czech, the deputy who operates the K9 unit and fluent in both languages, that’s pretty cool stuff if you ask me!
Gives them a huge edge cause I don’t know many people from Mexico that can speak those languages!
Build the wall. We know who is poisoning our society. Build the wall and cut them off.
Lol the wall isn’t gonna stop the drugs. The drugs are already here and sadly most cocaine is consumed by white people. How about we worry about rehabilitating people for the problems they have instead of using billions of dollars on a failed drug war or stupid wall. Addicts are going to get high regardless if Mexicans are bringing in drugs from Mexico or not. Both the supplier and addict play a part but if you cut off the supplier the addict will find another. Let’s build each other up, not build walls
Would you rather be saddened once by the death of a friend or family member due to drugs or suffer a lifetime of misery because of all the hardships and stress that comes along with dealing with someone addicted to drugs who drive entire families apart?
Lobos, you are a very handsome hardworking dog! Fayette County is very lucky to have you in law enforcement.
