BRYAN AREA DRUG DEALER RECEIVES 10 YEARS

John Knox, Jr. - Mugshot

The Bryan District Attorney’s Office released a statement yesterday (Friday) confirming they had successfully sentenced John Jerome Knox, Jr. to 10 years in prison for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in an amount between one and four grams.

Knox had previously pled guilty, asking for the court to assess his punishment.

Back in September of 2015, officers executed a search warrant on 1007 Hall Street in Bryan, and found 16 grams of crack cocaine in a dresser drawer beside Knox’s bed as well as a loaded pistol in the room. There were two other firearms, digital scales, and smaller amounts of crack cocaine found throughout the home, and Knox was found in the kitchen when the warrant was executed.

Almost 7 months after the first warrant, a second search warrant was executed on the same home. Knox was out on bond from the first offense.

He was found in the home again, along with a razorblade with cocaine reside, small amounts of cash, and a digital scale. The microwave tested positive for cocaine.

Investigators characterized Knox as a “mid-level” drug dealer, and that Knox, along with other local dealers, used the house on Hall street to manufacture and sell crack cocaine.

Knox took the stand during the punishment hearing, testifying he was, in fact, a drug dealer, and sold the narcotics in order to pay his bills and earn a living.
