BRENHAM BUSINESS OWNERS AMONG FOUR INJURED IN ACCIDENT NEAR LA GRANGE

A pair of Brenham business owners and their 8-year-old grandchild were among four people injured after a two-vehicle accident Sunday south of La Grange.

DPS reports that just before 12:30 p.m., 51-year-old Janet Grayson of Fayetteville was driving north on Highway 77, just north of the Hostyn cutoff at FM 2436.  According to DPS, Grayson’s 2019 Chevy Silverado entered the southbound lane and struck the front left corner of a 2020 Hyundai Palisade driving south.

Both vehicles, according to DPS, spun out of control and left the roadway.  Grayson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the pickup, which entered the ditch and rolled onto its side.

Grayson, along with the driver of the Hyundai, 65-year-old Patricia Brending of Brenham, suffered severe injuries and were taken to Dell Seton Hospital in Austin by Fayette County EMS.  Traveling with Brending were her husband, 66-year-old James Brending, and the grandchild, both of whom sustained non-incapacitating injuries and were cleared at the scene by EMS.

James and Patricia are the owners of Parts and More, and previously owned Mill Creek Glass before selling the business earlier this year.

The accident was investigated by DPS Trooper Mason Hartnett.  Grayson was issued a citation for driving on the wrong side of the road.
