LOCAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATES INCREASE IN NOVEMBER

  

 

The unemployment rate for Washington County rose in November after showing a decrease in October.

Data from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) shows Washington County’s jobless rate rose to 6.7 percent in November, up from 5.7 percent in October.

Washington County’s workforce in October totaled 15,282, with 1023 unemployed.  September’s labor force was 15,203, with 803 jobless.

The state’s unemployment rate increased to 8.1 percent in November from 6.9 percent in October.

The jobless rates for surrounding counties also rose significantly:

  • Austin County – 7.4 percent, up from 6.2 percent in October.
  • Brazos County – 5.4 percent, up from 4.5 percent.
  • Burleson County – 6.8 percent, up from 5.6 percent.
  • Fayette County – 5.9 percent, up from 4.5 percent in October.
  • Grimes County – 9.3 percent, up from 7.6 percent.
  • Lee County – 5.1 percent, up from 4.2 percent.
  • Waller County – 9.0 percent, up from 7.4 percent.

  1. 30% increase. City mgr., Eco. Dev mgr., City plan’r. Have not performed too good for 2020. Looks like they have given more taxes away for businesses to move in and none of them have shown up. This proves that this government mind trust has Failed. This shows that grants and tax brakes only steal from the taxpayers. Hopefully, the mind trust has finally learned to hold onto gov tax dollars and to stop redistribution to corporate America. I’ve never got a handout.
