ONE PERSON ARRESTED IN FAYETTE COUNTY DRUG BUST

  

On Monday, August 24th around 10:30am, the Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Monday August 24, 2015, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Canine Unit stopped a 2014 Chevy Z71 on Interstate 10.

The driver was stopped for a traffic violation.  After contact with the driver was made, several criminal indicators were observed and consent to search the vehicle was obtained.

Sgt. Randy Thumann deployed his canine “Lobos” to conduct and exterior sweep of the vehicle. “Lobos” alerted to a spare tire under the bed of the truck.

The tire was removed from under the vehicle and searched.  Approximately 70 pounds of marijuana was removed from the tire. The street value of the marijuana is approximately $35,000.

Thirty-three year old Jorge Salina of Zapata was arrested for possession of marijuana and taken to the Fayette County Jail.
