SENIOR APARTMENT COMPLEX

A developer wants to build a 76 unit apartment complex to serve the needs of senior citizens.

When the Brenham Planning and Zoning Commission meets Monday at city hall they will hear the plans of Marvalette, Hunter, Huntjon LLC, developers.

They need the Commissioners approval of a special use permit, then approval of the Brenham City Council could give the go-ahead for the project.

The complex  would be built on a 2 acre tract bordered by North Market, Cottonwood and Liberty Streets.

The area is now mixed residential use, but the apartments are allowed under the city code in those zoning districts only if they are built on tracts of less than two acres.

Brenham Director of Developmental Services, Julie Fulghum says they are recommending approval of the permit.

The complex would include 52 one-bedroom unit, 729 foot square feet in size.

They would also have another 24 bedroom units of 990 square feet.

The project would also include an ‘amenity center of about 5000 square feet.

If built the Belle Towers Senior Community would match the size of Bluffview Villas for senior citizen housing.
