CITY COUNCIL TO HEAR REPORT ON PET ADOPTION CENTER THURSDAY

Brenham City Council will hear report Thursday on the City’s Pet Adoption Center.  Wende Ragonis, Director of City Services, is expected to report to city council the findings of an ad hoc committee that was formed to look into concerns reported by Carol Jensen.  Jensen spoke to the city council on September 7th during the public comments period.  Ragonis said last week that the city is looking into hiring an expert in animal services to act as a consultant for the center.

Also on the agenda for Thursday’s meeting, council will consider approving the Railroad Quiet Zone at the crossing on FM 109.  Making that intersection a “Quiet Zone” became possible after the signal warning system was replaced following a traffic accident in March.

Council will also consider several purchases for the city.  They will look at the purchase of playground equipment for Henderson Park.  The new playground is part of a major upgrade of the park funded by a BCDC grant.

Council will also consider the purchase of a new dump truck and a new garbage truck for the city.  Those would be purchased through the city’s BuyBoard Contract.

Council is also expected to approve the purchase of additional retirement annuities, consider a noise variance for a St. Mary’s Catholic Church fundraiser, and set the 2018 holiday schedule. Brenham City Council meets Thursday at 1:00 PM on the second floor of City Hall.
