HAYS CO. DEPUTY SHOT — RECOVERING
A Hays County sheriff’s deputy has been shot after someone opened fire as officers responded to a report of a burglary at an antique store.
The gunfire erupted as deputies were searching the area at around 3:45 a.m.
Deputy Benjamin Gieselman was struck in the leg and upper body. He was taken to the hospital where he is expected to recover.
Deputies later found the body of 26-year old Rocky Miles West, of Wimberly. Authorities don’t know whether he shot himself or was struck by a shot fired by deputies.
