ONE ARRESTED ON SEVERAL DRUG CHARGES
Cpl Just Schiller responded to the 300 block of US 290 West on Tuesday around 5:45pm in reference to a welfare concern.
The caller said a male subject appeared to be passed out in a truck in the turn lane of the feeder road.
Schiller approached the vehicle and saw the man, twenty-six year old Mike Alvarado Ortega of Hempstead, asleep at the wheel with his foot on the brake. He opened the door and the man woke up; Schiller saw marijuana in plain view in the center console.
The man admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle, but claimed it wasn’t his. A probable cause search turned up marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids, several tablets of buspirone hydrochloride, diazepam and cetirizine as well as a container of human urine, used to falsify drug tests.
Ortega was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail, charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Dangerous Drug, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Synthetic cannabinoid, and False Drug Test Device.
