SALES TAX REBATES UP THIS MONTH
Sales tax rebates for Brenham, Burton and Washington County were all up last month.
The City of Brenham received $520,398—an increase of 4.8-percent over last year ($496,622).
So far this year, Brenham has received over $4.8-million—up 5.6-percent over last year at this time ($4.6-million).
The September rebate for Washington County is $210,876—up 6.7-percent over last year ($197,566).
For the year, Washington County has received just over $2-million—up 7.7-percent from last year ($1.8-million).
The Burton rebate totaled $3,658—an increase of 1-percent over last year ($2,791). For the year, Burton has received $53,500—an increase of 89.2-percent, thanks in large part to a sales tax increase.
State Comptroller Glen Hegar says sale tax rebates this month totaled $668.3-million—up 6.2-percent from September of last year.
