SALT GRASS TRAIL RIDE KICKS OFF
The famous Salt Grass Trail ride is going through Austin County today (Sunday).
The Salt Grass Trail ride is the original and the oldest trail ride that promotes the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
The ride began Saturday in Cat Spring and will eventually wind through the countryside for 103 miles toward Houston. Participants range in age from 2 to 90, stretched out in a single file line for approximately a mile.
A Salt Grass Dance will be held tonight at the Austin County Fairgrounds to celebrate the ride. The dance will feature the Anthony Moreno Band. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m.
