SAM HOUSTON ST. FACING PERMANENT TRAFFIC CHANGES

Increased enrollment and new construction on campus, has led officials at Sam Houston State University to make numerous traffic changes to help with the congestion.

Drivers can expect the changes to begin during March 10-18, when crews will be permanently rerouting the streets that go around campus to one-way.

Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Kris Ruiz says the university rerouted traffic last summer near the football stadium to one-way, but still see there is a lot of traffic congestion, and decided it was time to fix it all.

Officials say they hope the changes will help with new buildings and more students, causing more traffic.

Ruiz said that students and faculty will be alerted via KatSafe as the roads begin to change. Flagmen will also be directing traffic as needed.
