SCARECROWS COME TO DOWNTOWN BRENHAM

The population of Downtown Brenham will be growing by at least 31 scarecrows beginning today (Friday).

Entries in Main Street Brenham’s 14th Annual Scarecrow Extravaganza will be placed in front of downtown stores throughout the day today (Friday).  Voting by the public begins tomorrow (Saturday) and runs through October 29th.  The most popular scarecrow will win the grand prize of $250 provided by radio stations KTEX 106.1 and KWHI 1280.  There will be six other $150 prizes awarded for different categories including silliest, most spirit, most creative, cutest, most educational and best fall theme.  In addition, Main Street is offering a prize for the best Downtown Business Scarecrow.

Some of this year’s scarecrow entries include “Buddy the Elf”, created by The Brenham Children’s Chorus;  “Cub Band Gone Strange” by the Brenham High School Band;  “Texas Strong” from the 2nd Graders at Krause Elementary;  “Utility Joe” created by the City of Brenham Utility Department;  and “Cousin It & Thing” by Abby and Avery Lamson for Sweet Repeats.

Beginning tomorrow (Saturday) you can pick up your ballot for voting at any of the Scarecrow Extravaganza sponsors including The Canyon Chick, The Pomegranate, Must Be Heaven, Hermann Furniture, Yumm Sweets and Eats, Dona Lynn’s Unique Gifts and at KTEX 106 / KWHI 1280.
