STATE OF TEXAS IMPLENTING NEW VEHICLE STICKER PROGRAM

The State of Texas is implementing a Two Steps One Sticker program for their vehicles and wants to inform Texas drivers of the new law.

Beginning March 1st, the state will stop issuing vehicle inspection stickers. At this point, in order to register your vehicle, you will be required to pass a vehicle inspections not more than 90 days prior to date your registration expires.

Washington County Tax Assessor-Collector Dot Borchardt wants to make the transition as smooth as possible. "During the first year of the program beginning March 1, 2015, all you will need to do is make sure you already have a valid passing vehicle inspection before you renew your registration in our office, online, or by mail.

After passing an inspection, the inspection station will update your electronic inspection record with the results and will issue a paper vehicle inspection report.

When you go to register your vehicle, your inspection will be verified electronically, and if all is in order, the registration will move forward.

The details of the program are still being finalized, but at this time if you want more information on the program, go the TXDMV website at www.txdmv.gov and select “Two Steps One Sticker” under the Motorist tab.
