TxDOT UPDATES LIST OF ROAD CLOSINGS

Current flooding in the Bryan District of TxDOT.
(As of 5:00pm., Tuesday)

Washington Co:

FM 2502 closed due to culvert washout

Grimes Co:

FM 3090 at Coleman Bottom is closed.  FM 3090 is also closed between FM 3455 and FM 149.  We will detour traffic on FM 3090 until next week.  The detour north from Navasota is to turn right onto FM 3455, turn left onto SH 90, turn left onto FM 149, then turn left back onto FM 3090.  The detour towards Navasota, from FM 3090 and CR intersection is to travel north on FM 3090, turn right onto FM 149, turn right onto SH 90, turn right onto FM 3455, then turn back left onto FM 3090.

At this time we don’t have flooded state maintained roads in Brazos, Burleson, Leon, Freestone, Madison, Milam, Robertson, and Walker Counties.  Crews in all our ten counties will continue to check roadways for flooding throughout the night.   We anticipate the above roads will be closed for about a week.

Road conditions and traffic updates are available at DriveTexas.org or 1-800-452-9292.

Flash flooding is the leading cause of weather-related deaths in Texas. As little as six inches of water can float some vehicles. If you encounter a flooded road, Turn Around, Don't Drown.

  • Never try to walk, swim or drive through swift water.
  • Stay informed about weather conditions when you are driving.
  • If your vehicle stalls in deep water, leave it and move to higher ground if you can do so safely.
  • Don't move, tamper with or drive around barriers blocking a low-water crossing. Penalties range from $200 to $1,000 and/or two years in jail.

  1. I know I am going to take heat for what I am about to write however it needs to be said. This morning I came across a road closing on 36 going from Sealy to Bellville and encountered several officers from the Austin County Sheriff’s office. They were very abrupt and rude and seemed to annoyed when politely asked if there was a way to safely drive from Sealy to Bellville. I was very nice and polite, but the irritation and arrogance they displayed was not a good representation of law enforcement. Officers, I respect you and what you do, but at the end of the day I am law abiding tax payer that contributes to paying your salary, I do not deserve to be treated disrespectfully for simply asking a question. I have also heard from several of my co-workers that they have experienced the same treatment.
