WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS HEAR PRESENTATION ON TAX-PHASE-IN RECIPIENTS

The Washington County Commissioners heard a presentation from the Tax-Phase-In Compliance Review Committee during their meeting today (Tuesday).

The committee meets every year to review all of the current tax phase-in recipients who were granted the incentive to ensure that value creation and employment and payroll criteria are being met.

The companies that were reviewed for compliance in 2015 were Advanced Data Storage, Stanpac, Blue Bell Creameries, Quest Specialty, Valmont Industries, Longwood Elastomers, Tempur Sealy, MIC Group, PPE/GSL, and Brazos Valley Brewing.

Clint Kolby, the projects manager for the Economic Development Foundation, said the 10 companies were in compliance with requirements which include investing in expansions and adding jobs.

Commissioner Hanath said the committee is in place to hold the recipients accountable:

Washington County Judge John Brieden says that the county benefits from the abatement:

The Washington County Commissioners Court also approved an agreement between the Heart of Texas Regional Advisory Council (HTRAC) and two of the county’s entities- Washington County EMS and the Washington County Office of Emergency Management.

The agreement helps develop a coordinated regional medical response plan in case of a disaster. The new agreement is needed because HTRAC recently took on a new executive director and the documents need to be updated to include his name.
