WASHINGTON CO. SALES TAX REBATE UP THIS MONTH
Washington County saw an increase in its sales tax rebate this month, while the city of Brenham saw a decline.
Washington County has a payment of $194,738 this month, which is 4.6- percent more than 2016’s $186,167.
Brenham’s rebate was $461,728, which is down .9- percent from 2016’s payment of $465,921.
However, Brenham’s rebates are still ahead of 2016. So far, the city has received $2,089,650 which is up 2.3 percent from last year.
Burton’s April rebate was $4,816, which is up from 2016’s payment of $2,767. In Burton the 2017 payments total $20,923, which is up 79- percent from 2016 during the same period. Burton raised its sales tax to 1.5- percent in January after voter approval.
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $620.2 million in local sales tax allocations for April, 4.9 percent more than in April 2016.
