WASHINGTON COUNTY HAS ANOTHER RECORD DAY OF EARLY VOTING

Another record has been broken as the second day of early voting in Washington County saw 1,218 people cast ballots for the General Election, bringing the two day total to 2,424.VOTE FEATURE

The deadline to apply for a ballot by mail is October 28th.  Applications can be mailed to 100 E. Main, Ste. 105, Brenham, faxed to - 979-277-6213, or emailed to - cjackson@wacounty.com. Applications are due in-office (not postmarked) no later than October 28th. Applications cannot be “walked in” to the office.

Likewise, returning a ballot by mail must be mailed back in and cannot be dropped off in person.  When a voter applies for a ballot by mail, they must do just that - vote by mail and that includes returning the ballot by mail.

Voters are reminded that wearing a shirt, hat, button or sticker that states a candidate's name or refers to a candidate in some way, whether that be by a name, slogan or some word or wording associated with a candidate, is not allowed in the polling place or within 100 feet of the door to the polling place, by state law.  This also pertains to signs or bumper stickers on vehicles.

Early voting continues at the Washington County Courthouse Annex through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Saturday 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and on Sunday 12-3 p.m.  The final week of early voting will be next week, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Washington County Clerk, Beth Rothermel, says those looking to cast their vote early on the Burton bond issue can do so at the Burton ISD Administration Office. The separate ballot will also be available at the four Burton-area voting boxes that will be open on November 8th: the Burton Community Center, Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Greenvine, Sons of Hermann Hall in Gay Hill and St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
