HOUSE FIRE FATAL VICTIMS IDENTIFIED AND SUSPECT FACES TOUGHER CHARGES

Now that the fatal victims of the deadly early Monday morning house fire in Bryan have been positively identified charges have been enhanced against a preliminary suspect,

Thirty-four year old Dennis Wayne Brown III is now charged with first degree felony arson and second degree felony burglary  in connection with the fire.  His bail was increased to $1.15 million.

This happened after the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Noel Devin and her father, Thomas ‘Mac’ Devin were the victims.

A review of Brown’s arrest records show a history of theft, burglary, aggravated robbery and drug use all prior to a 1999 felony conviction at age 19.

Bryan Police Chief Eric Buske says the investigation into Brown’s involvement with the fire continues.

The arson and burglary charges stem from items recovered during a search of Brown’s room at the El Camino Motel in north Bryan where he was arrested.

The arrest report said bleach, cigarette lighters and clothing and jewelry and a NCAA Women’s Basketball Paass from Lincoln, Nebraska, belonging to Noel Devin were among the items recovered in the search.
