COUNTY JUDGE JOHN BRIEDEN HIGHLIGHT COUNTY ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR 2014

County Judge John Brieden believes there were many good things to happen in Washington County in 2014.

In a discussion held with Brieden, he highlights what he believes are the top five Washington County Highlights.

The number one of these highlights is the Comprehensive Interlocal agreement between Washington County and the City of Brenham.

The second biggest highlight according to Brieden is the 21.45 acres land north of Brenham purchased for the Road and Bridge Department.

The third biggest highlight Brieden says the Community Development Block Grant from the State of Texas for sewer installation on Alois Lane.

Number four being the Transportation Infrastructure Grant program to help with roads damaged by oil and gas construction,

And finally, Brieden picked as number 5 the reconsruction of the gazebo on the Washington County Courthouse square.

Brieden also added that he was pleased with an oil and gas lease that the county has signed. There was quite a bit of activity, but there was a non-producing hole in the land, which scared people off, but now the area is  producing, and the county is  happy and Brieden hopes it will continuing producing in 2015 and beyond.

Also, the county has a new hunting and grazing leasee of school lands, which provides income for both school districts in Washington County. The county was unhappy with the leasee at the time and terminated the lease, and the County is currently pleased with the new lessee.
